BTS(Bangladesh
Thalassaemia Samity) was formed by Parents of the Thalassaemia
Patients in 1989 with Eng Omar Golam Rabbany as its President. |

With
a vision to contain and prevent the disease the samity(society)
felt the necessary to have a hospital for providing one
stop service. |

Thalassaemia
is a genetically inherited blood disorder, when
both parents are Thalassaemia carrier(trait) their
child may become diseased. A person born with Thalassaemia
disease suffers from chronic anemia. |

| Thalassaemia
being a genetic disorder, no curative treatment has yet
been discovered.
Bone marrow transplant has to some extent been successful
in curing this dreadful disease. |
