Blood transfusion center

The BTH has developed facilities to serve 30 patients at a time. This facilities need to be further developed as the number of patients are swelling up every month.

For safe transfusion of blood

Different tests el. HBsAG, HCV, HIV and VDRL are done in the Hospital Laboratory setup with most modern computerized equipment for safe transmission of blood. Besides, the hospital is careful to wash the blood before transfusion to avoid side effect like fever and other complications.

Blood Bank

Since a programme has been taken up for collection of blood for the thalassaemia patients, the BTH has setup a blood bank with foreign assistance for preservation of blood for our patients. The blood bank need to be developed further.

Blood Collection Unit

A comprehensive programme to collect blood from voluntary blood donors or from group of donors through out the country is taken up for availability of blood for the patients. The unit needs to be further strengthened.

Iroin Chelation therapy

Since Iron Overload in the heart, kidney, liver etc following blood transfusion create extra problem for patients, the BTH has taken up a programme for Iron Chelation.
